Pike County elects a new Auditor and School Board member

The challengers win in the Pike County Auditor and the Pike County School  Board District 2 race.

            Long time courthouse staple, Jody Hoover was unseated as Auditor as she was narrowly defeated by Republican Judy Wood Gumbel.  The percentage margin was neck and neck with Gumbel with 50.78%  or 2626 votes to Hoover’s 49.22%  or 2545 votes.

            In the other upset, incumbent School Board member David Waltz lost to challenger Forest Manning 62 to 37%.   Manning won every precinct in that district except 1 and tied 1.

            Other races, the Pike County Sheriff’s office will belong to current Chief Deputy Kent Johnson, a Democrat winning over Republican Frank Coleman 55% to 44%.

Deputy Johnson says he believes his record and high turnout is what helped him be elected

            The Sherrif-Elect says he doesn’t anticipate a whole lot of changes in the department

 

            County Commissioner Mark Flint, a Republican easily held onto his seat over his Democrat Challenger Heath Scraper 64 to 35%.   County Councilman Randy Harris also won re-election 68 to 31% over Democrat Darren Cook.

            Republican Jeff Harting won the Recorder’s office, 54% to 45% over Democrat Lida Robinson.

            There was 58.89% voter turnout in Pike County.
