Thursday, the Martin County Sheriff’s Department says they arrested a man after a foot chase lasting about a quarter-mile.

Martin County Sheriff Travis Rousch was serving an arrest warrant at 12:30pm Thursday at a home in Shoals.  41-year-old Allen Sluder was wanted in Orange County on meth charges.

The sheriff arrived to find Sluder working under a vehicle.  Sluder did not seem concerned when the sheriff pulled in the driveway, but when he was informed of the warrant and was about to get handcuffed, he ran.  The sheriff pursued for a quarter mile and the chase went into the woods and Sluder was caught while crossing a stream.

After he was searched, a substance that later tested positive for meth was found on Sluder.   In addition to the warrant, he’s now charged with a felony count of Possession of meth and misdemeanor count of Resisting Law Enforcement.

Also arrested on Sluder’s property was 34-year-old Holly Sluder who was wanted on a Felony Warrant out of Orange County.
