Thomas E. Norrod, 77, passed away at IU Simon Cancer Center, with daughter Melissa at his side, in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Sept. 5, 2018. Thomas was born in Monroe, Tennessee, where he grew up, to Herman and Clancy (Sells) Norrod on Nov. 7, 1940.

He had 10 brothers and sisters. Surviving are Gerald Norrod, Donald Norrod and Betty (Norrod) Ledbetter, all of Monroe. Deceased are Homer Norrod, Paul Norrod, Landon Norrod, who died as a child, Glenn Norrod, Bethel Norrod, and sister Helen (Norrod) Reister.

He married Janie Sue (Buck) Norrod on Dec. 2, 1961, and she survives in Washington, Indiana. They have two children, Thomas “Mark” Norrod of Springfield, Tennessee, and daughter Melissa Jane (Norrod) Schnarr of Washington. He has three grandchildren all surviving, Landon Norrod of Green Brier, Tennessee, son of Mark Norrod and Robin Baggett, and granddaughters Ashley and Kylee Schnarr, daughters of Scott and Melissa (Norrod) Schnarr of Washington.
Tom previously owned and operated a service station in Livingston, Tennessee, but retired after many years working as an above ground coal miner. He also was a member of Washington Church of Christ.

Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State St., Washington, Indiana, is managing and transporting Tom to Speck Funeral Home, 300 N. Church St., Livingston, TN 38570, where there will be a visitation Friday evening, Sept. 14, 2018, followed by a funeral service Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018. Interment will follow in Norrod Cemetery, Monroe.
