Weekend activities actually start now

september-6-through-9

Tens of thousands of people are expected in Daviess County for the biggest tourism weekend of the year.

The Montgomery Ruritan Turkey Trot Festival begins tonight, the White River Valley Antique Show has gotten underway this morning and the Chandelier Barn Market Fall Show will bring out locals to the hometown events as well as draw from surrounding counties and other parts of the tri-state for a weekend of family oriented activity.

Bill Baze with the White River Valley Antique Association says the featured tractor this year is Ford and Fordson, however, something new to see this year is an antique John Deere piece of equipment…

Today at the Antique Show at the Fairgrounds in Elnora, he school house is open and you can see some limited demonstrations. There’s live music tonight from two bands and a horse pull in the arena.

Also happening this weekend on Main Street in downtown Washington, thousands will gather Saturday at the Knight of Columbus for the weekend Treasure Hunt Draw.  More tickets are being sold than ever before as the jackpot has risen to a record $1.9 million-plus with just three numbers on the board and the big prize behind one of those three numbers.  The drawing is Saturday at 7pm.
