William Edward “Ed” Taylor, 99, of Washington

William Edward “Ed” Taylor, 99, passed away at 12:49 am on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at his residence. 

Ed was born on November 3, 1918 in Daviess County the son of Edward and Hannah (Ray) Taylor. He married Catherine McIntire on July 5, 1952 and she passed away on July 13, 2015.

Ed served his country in the U.S. army during WW II and was a dispatcher and clerk for B & O and CSX Railroad. He was a member of Free Methodist Church and Vincennes American Legion. Ed enjoyed fishing, hunting, hunting mushrooms, and ballroom dancing and bowling with his wife Catherine.

Survivors include his grandchildren, Angela Clauss of Washington, Shelley Ryan and her husband Pete of Montgomery, Chris Jones and his wife Pam of Pocahontas, IL, Jason Jones and Charlotte of Washington; great grandchildren Nicholas “Nick” Clauss and his wife Jaime, Catherine “Katie” Wilson, Shawn Ryan, Conner Jones, Zach Westfall, Brianna Westfall, Logan Jones, Darian Jones, Jayven Jones; and a great- great granddaughter Avree Westfall, and several nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Catherine Taylor, son Gary Jones, grandson-in-law Joe Clauss, seven sisters and one brother.

Friends may visit with Ed’s family from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State Street, Washington, IN. Ed’s funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Denise Newland officiating. Entombment will follow in Sugarland Memory Gardens mausoleum.
