Larry Rex Deckard, 71, passed away at 12:50 pm on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Golden Living Center in Petersburg.
Larry was born on August 15, 1946 in Vincennes the son of Robert and Alberta (Eastin) Deckard. He married Peggy Myers on April 14, 1973 and she preceded him in death on December 3, 2012.
Larry was a 1964 graduate of Wheatland High School and attended Purdue University. He was a member of Walnut Grove Methodist Church and the Wheatland Lions Club. Larry was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed his career very much and would create anything to make farming easier. He enjoyed going on various road trips just to visit farm equipment lots. Larry also enjoyed his grandchildren an all of the adventures they took him on.
Survivors include his sons, Brady Deckard and his wife Connie of Vincennes, Aaron Deckard and his wife Amie of Wheatland, Colby Deckard of Wheatland; grandchildren, Amelia, Bogey, Avery, Alie, and Alea Deckard; sister, Sandra Baker and her husband Sam of Vincennes; and numerous nieces and nephews. Larry was also preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may visit with Larry’s family on Sunday, July 29, 2018 from 5-8 pm at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes. Larry’s funeral service will take place at 10:00 am on Monday, July 30, 2018 at Goodwin Funeral Home with Rev. Brenda Wick officiating. Interment will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Monroe City.
