Local officials make sure there were fireworks

The show went on in spite of some behind the scenes scrambling.

Washington City officials received a call July 4th morning from the company hired for the East Side Park Fireworks Show.  The company reported they had experienced an explosion the night before at an event  and would be unable to bring their show to Washington for July 4th night, last night.

Washington Mayor Joe Wellman, and Park Superintendent Kip Kelley drove to Kentucky to the company, picked up the fireworks and brought them to Washington and then hurried to find local people qualified to set them off.  The help was found and the show went on last night at East Side Park.

The Mayor on his Facebook page gave special thanks to Kelly, Police Chief Todd Church and Randy Ruston and Friends for their efforts yesterday and last night.
