Two men are facing federal indictments after claiming to demilitarize Humvees from the Crane Naval Base but instead converting 7 full armored vehicles and selling them.

The US Attorney for Southern Indiana reports that 52-year-old Mark W. Collier of Bedford is charged with 7 counts of providing false statements and 63-year-old Richard S. Treloar of St. Louis is charged with Conversion of Government Property.

Treloar’s business, Treloar Enterprises International contracted with the DOD to demilitarize the vehicles which usually means total destruction to eliminate their functions.  However, investigators said that from January 2014 and November 2015 the Humvees were delivered to the company and the vehicles were converted at a facility in Spencer where Treloar claimed they were demilitarized.   Government officials say Treloar sold or tried to sell the Humvees valued at nearly $600,000 each.

If convicted, Treloar faces 10 years in prison and Collier up to 5 years.
