Famous Indiana artist, Robert Indiana, has died.

Indiana was best known for his LOVE sculptures where the famous image features the word L-O-V-E rendered in colorful capital letters, with the first two letters stacked on top of the other two, and the letter “O” tilted as if it were being swept off its feet.

His lawyer told the New York Times that Indiana died from respiratory failure at his home off the coast of Maine.

He was 89. Indiana, whose original name was Robert Clark, was born in New Castle in 1928.
