A Princeton man accused of murdering a Knox County man has reached a plea agreement and received his sentence.

27-year-old Christopher Schatz Jr. was given a 60 year prison sentence in Knox Superior Court 1 Wednesday.  He had admitted to murdering John “Doug” Lowe of Decker a year and 6 days ago.

Under the plea agreement, 15 years will be suspended to probation.  Shatz-Junior will also be given credit for time served.  He also may have to testify against a 2nd man accused in the case, Jeremy Schatz.

In probable cause affidavits filed last year after the killing,  both men admitted to being part of the shooting. However, each one accused the other of actually firing the fatal shot. Both men also told officials that they were allegedly working for the Department of Justice which ordered them to kill Lowe because Lowe had refused to take a job with the Department.
