Mildred L. “Millie” Collins, age 91, of Washington, passed away on April, 29, 2018 at 3:05 a.m. at Eastgate Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation.

She was born on July 9, 1926 in Dubois County to Charles “Bill” and Minnie (Schnarr) Quackenbush. She graduated from Glendale High School in 1945. She had worked for Montgomery Ward, Sears and J.C.Pennys where she had retired. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Rainbow Club, Eagles & Moose Lodge Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by daughter, Jodee Collins of Washington; son, Steven Collins of Washington; granddaughters, Amy Ruth (Bill) Carr and Leigh Padgett; grandson, Josh (Melanie) Collins; greatgrandchildren, Erin (Tyler) O’Haver, William Choate, Lacey Carr, Megan Carr, Alexandra Carr, Nathan Carr, Talitha Collins, Bryce Collins and Devin Collins; great greatgranddaughter,  Mayleigh O’Haver; brothers, Melvin Quackenbush of Pinetown, North Carolina and Ronald Quackenbush of Jasper; several nieces and nephews

She is preceded in death by her husband, Claude Byron Collins on March 22, 1962 from injuries received from a flash fire at Crane N.A.D.; son, James Collins, December 26, 2013; parents, Charles and Minnie Quakenbush; sister, Lois Potts.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday at Ed Lee Mortuary with Marvin Arvin officiating. Burial will follow in Truelove Cemetery with pallbearers, Josh Collins, Tim Potts, Kevin Potts, Dave Neubert, Garold Morgan and Bryce Collins; honorary pallbearers, Talitha Collins and Devin Collins. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at Ed Lee Mortuary.
