Prescription Drug Take Back

Today is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.  It’s a day to remind you to get rid of unused or unneeded prescription drugs.  It’s not only meant to clean out a medicine cabinet but to help rid your home of potentially addictive substances like opioids.  According to the 2015 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 6.4 million Americans abused controlled prescription drugs. The study shows that a majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.

In Washington there’s always a drop box for unwanted medication at the police department. Other agencies where you can drop off prescription drugs today are the state police post in Jasper and the Bicknell and Vincennes Police and Knox County Sheriff’s Department.
