Washington is getting a half million dollars from the state Office of Community and Rural Affairs which will be used by PACE Community Action Agency.

The city had to apply for the grant on behalf of PACE which will use the funds to build on to their building on Cosby Road.  Monies will also be used to provide early Head Start Services.

The funds awarded through OCRA are from the federal Community Development Block Program’s round 3.  Applications were sent in earlier this year from several communities for various projects. 11 million dollars was granted to 21 cities, towns or counties.

The Town of Montgomery also received a grant.  $700,000 will be used for wastewater system improvements.  Some old sewer lines will be relined.

Also, in the region, Decker received $550,00 for the same type of wastewater system upgrades.

Linton gets $600,00 for stormwater system improvements.

Dugger got $550,00 for drinking water infrastructure improvements.
