LTC Cyril “Bud” Bouchie, Jr.

LTC Cyril “Bud” Bouchie, Jr., 90, of Indianapolis, went home to be with the Lord on March 21. He was born in Vincennes, Indiana on August 11, 1927 to the late Cyril Maurice and Irene Marceline Mouzin Bouchie. He was a graduate of Washington Catholic High School, Washington, Indiana and spent 35 years in the Indiana National Guard and 7 years in the Indiana Guard Reserve.

He married Genevieve Willett on June 7, 1951 in Washington, Indiana, who survives. He was a member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church in Indianapolis. In addition to his wife, he is survived by 9 children, Joseph Bouchie, of Brazil, Indiana, Doris Carson, of New Castle, Brenda (Gary) Shafer, of Indianapolis, Deborah Bouchie, of Carmel, Jim Bouchie, of Coppell, Texas, Cathy (John) Beyersdorfer, of New Castle, John (Elaine) Bouchie, David Bouchie, of Indianapolis, Rosalie (Jonathan) King, of Lombard, Illinois; 18 grandchildren, which include: Robert Jones III, Steven Carson II, Dianna White, Christopher Silbaugh, Zachary and Brooke Shafer, Brian, Christopher and Jennifer Bouchie, Jessica Page, Christine Russell, Nicole Sizemore, Aaron, Abraham and Jonah Beyersdorfer, Curtis Bouchie and Ruth and Jacob King; several great and great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Carolyn (Craney) Bouchie and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cyril and Irene (Mouzin) Bouchie; brother, Norman Bouchie; sister-in-law, Carey (Bline) Bouchie; nephew, Ronald Bouchie.

LTC Cyril Bouchie’s military career began in June 1948 when he enlisted in the Indiana National Guard in Washington, Indiana. He became company commander of the Washington National Guard for 7 years. In April 1963, he was reassigned as full-time administrator of the 1st Batallion, 152nd Infantry in Jasper, Indiana. He served there for 14 years and was reassigned to head recruiter of the Indiana National Guard at Stout Field, Indianapolis, Indiana. He was then reassigned as Organizational Maintenance Officer at Stout Field in charge of 20 maintenance shops in Indiana. He was in charge of all the federal maintenance at Camp Atterbury. He also served as superintendent of the heavy maintenance shop at Stout Field.

He graduated from the Advanced Infantry course at Fort Benning, Georgia, and was trained as a nuclear weapons employment officer. He later graduated from the Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

He was a member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus, Military Officers Association and received many decorations and awards.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at St. Barnabas Catholic Church, 8300 Rahke Road, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass at church. A Graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Saint John’s Cemetery, Washington, Indiana.
