Mary L. Wallace

Mary L. Wallace, 72, of Wheatland, IN, went to her Heavenly Home on March 13, 2018.  She was born on January 24, 1946 in Vincennes, IN to John Herman and Nora (Roe) Watjen.  She was a Wheatland High School graduate in 1964.  She was married to the late Donald L. Wallace.  Mary was a Teacher’s Aid at Lincoln High School with the disabled.  When she was out of high school, she was employed at RCA and she also helped on the farm.  Mary was a member of Bethany Christian Church of Washington, IN.  She enjoyed gardening and yard work.  She loved to compete in canning at the fair.  Mary’s yard was immaculate.  She was devoted to her son and making sure he had the highest quality of life possible.

Mary is survived by her children, Linda Wallace-Flake (Robert) and John Wallace (Annette); siblings: Phyllis Watjen, Henry Watjen (Sue), Anna Watjen McKinnon, and James D. Watjen; five grandsons; two great grand daughters; two great grandsons; and many nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Donald L. Wallace; brother John Andrew Watjen; and son Daniel Wallace.

A Service of Remembrance for Mary will take place on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 1pm at Gill Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Watson officiating.  Friends may call prior to the service at the funeral home from 11-1pm.  Inurnment will follow the service at Bethany Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lincoln High School Athletic Department “Special Needs Division” 1545 S.
