Thelma L. Edwards, 86, passed away at 10:44 am on March 6, 2018 at her residence. Thelma was born on November 28, 1931 in Vincennes the daughter of John and Blanche (Miley) Clifton. After her father passed away at a young age her Aunt Margaret and Uncle Otto Teising raised her and her sister Audrey. She married Richard Edwards on April 21, 1956.
Thelma had worked for Indiana Bell in different capacities for thirty years and later at Security Bank retiring from there. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, the Harmony Society, VFW and the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Edwards of Vincennes; sisters, Mary Ellen Neal of McAllen TX, and Virginia Reitmeyer of Indianapolis. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, her aunt and uncle, Margaret and Otto Teising, sister, Audrey Schultz, and two brothers, Leo and Eddie Arndt.
Friends may visit with Thelma’s family on Friday, March 9, 2018 from 4-7 pm at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 am on Saturday at St. Vincent Catholic Church, 1837 S. Hart Street Road, Vincennes with Rev. David Fleck celebrating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Knights of Columbus, 401 Felt King Road, Vincennes, IN.
