A 21-year-old man is being held for Voluntary Manslaughter in Gibson County in connection with yesterday’s shooting death of a motel manager in Oakland City.

Gibson County Sheriff Tim Bottoms confirmed last night that Anthony Hoskins of Oakland City was booked into the jail in Princeton.

48-year-old Steven Hess was said to have been shot in the parking lot of the Diplomat Motel about 8-am Wednesday morning.

Hoskins reportedly made the 911 call telling authorities he had shot someone.

The Princeton Daily Clarion  is reporting that Hoskins was staying in a room with two other people.  Hess had received complaints of noise from the room Tuesday night and had asked them to quiet down.  At 7-am Wednesday Hess went to evict the tenants.  Hoskins and another tenant went to the office afterwards to talk about whey they were being evicted.  There was an argument.  Hess’ wife said they went outside and Hoskins displayed a gun and fired.  Hoskins claimed he was being attacked with a baseball bat.  Several guns were said to have been found in the parking lot.

        The investigation is continuing.
