Gene Raymond Bathe

Gene Raymond Bathe, 91, passed away January 23, 2018 in Ocala, Florida.  He was born in Lawrenceville, Illinois on December 8, 1926.  He spent the majority of his life in Vincennes, Indiana and graduated from Lincoln High School.  He returned to higher education in the 1960s and began a career as a faculty member and Program Chair at Vincennes University until his retirement in 1991.  He was active in JC’s, the boy scouts, Lincoln High School Band Boosters, the Masons, and the Republican party.  Her served in the Army Reserve and the Indiana National Guard where he rose to the rank of Captain.  He chaired the Knox County March of Dimes campaign for several years.

He was devoted to both his immediate family and his extended family.  He supported his mother, Clara Bathe, and his aunt, Eunice Bathe, throughout their lives.  He married Patricia Murphy on June 25, 1951 and she survives.  He is also survived by his children, Gene E. Bathe, Sandra Turner (Bill), Linda Coatney (Fred Hartloff), David Bathe (Rebecca); six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.  Services will be private.  Arrangements were be made through Goodwin Funeral Home, Vincennes, Indiana where you may leave a condolence at www.goodwinfamilyfh.com
