Robert Dillon Harris, 83, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2018 in Petersburg, Indiana. Bob was born July 6th 1934 on Mullen Hill in Petersburg to Owen Dillon Harris and Clara Heldt Harris.

Bob graduated from Petersburg High School in 1951. He maintained perfect attendance from 1st grade on, until he took a half day off his Senior year. It was the day he took his mother, Clara, to the recruitment center for the enlistment of her 17 year old son. He joined the United States Navy to fight in the Korean War. He served two tours in active duty. When he returned home Bob attend ISU in Terre Haute. This is where he met his wife of 61 years. Robert married Sondra Sue Seneff in Odon, Indiana on November 30, 1956. Robert went on to graduate from the Indiana Mortuary College of Indianapolis in 1957. Robert became the fourth generation to join O.D. Harris & Sons Funeral Home in Petersburg, Indiana. Later, he became a second generation Pike County Coroner. Robert was a member of the: Pike Masonic Lodge #121; Shriners; Scottish Rite; I.O.O.F.; VFW Post #3587; and the Moose Lodge #1617. He served on the Board of Directors at Citizens State Bank. Bob was raised a member of the Main Street Presbyterian Church in Petersburg.

Robert was preceded in death by: his parents Owen “Stiffy” & Clara Harris; brothers Richard “Dick” Harris & Rev. William “Bill” Harris; and a daughter Nici Ann Harris. He is survived by: his wife Sondra; daughters Lisa Harris, Clara (David) Henson & Gretchen (Bobby Walters) Harris; grandchildren Nick (Samantha) Henson, Ali (Christian Wilson) Henson, and Gabriel Harris Walters; and great grandchildren Evie Sweet & Creed Wendholt.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 1:00pm EST at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, Indiana. Burial will immediately follow at Walnut Hills Cemetery with military honors by V.F.W. Post #3587. Visitation will be Monday, January 29 from 2-8pm with a Masonic Service at 7:00pm by Pike Masonic Lodge #121.
