Ralph Kenneth “Ken” Schnarr, 86, of Washington, IN, went to his Heavenly Home on January 22, 2018. He was born on May 18, 1931 in Dubois County, IN, to Ralph John and Thelma Gertrude (Armes) Schnarr. He was a 1949 graduate from Barr Township High School. On July 8, 1956, he married the love of his life, Lois Elaine (Hunter) Schnarr. Ken and Lois were married 56 years until her death in 2013. Ken was employed at N.S.W.C. Crane for 31 years, and was an active member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and lead bible studies at local nursing homes. Ken loved the outdoors and gardening, taking photographs of family members and nature, and was a consummate tinkerer. Ken served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955 in New Jersey, Alabama, Mississippi, and Texas, and received the National Defense Service Medal.

Ken is survived by is son David Schnarr of Evansville, IN; daughters Susan Will (Dale) of Fort Wayne, IN, Diana Fleenor (Mark) of Dallas, TX, and Lisa Hoskin (Glenn) of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren Megan Will (Santina Crolla), Kathryn Will, Rachel (Fleenor) Sego (Preston), Emily (Schnarr) Kendrick (Jordan), Eli Schnarr, Maddie Hoskin, and Alexandra Hoskin; sisters-in-law Marcella (Hunter) Myers (Ralph) of Loveland, CO, and Maxine (Hunter) Quilliam of Okeechobee, FL; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Lois Elaine Schnarr, sister Juanita Shirley, and infant brother.

The funeral service for Ken will take place on Monday, January 29, 2018 at 1:30pm at Gill Funeral Home, 308 E. Walnut Street, Washington, IN 47501. Friends may call prior to the service at the funeral home from 12-1:30pm. Interment will follow the service at Sugarland Memory Gardens with Military Burial Rites.
