Washington’s City Council has agreed to assist the Washington PACE Action Agency apply for a grant to upgrade and expand the local Head Start Facility.

At a public hearing prior to Monday night’s Council meeting, several local residents spoke in support of the PACE project and the positive impact Head Start has on many area families and their children.   The Council was told that not only will the Head Start facility be expanded, but all PACE offices in the area will be consolidated in the remodeled and expanded building.

While the City is the grant applicant, Washington will have no financial obligation.  Mayor Joe Wellman explains:

The project is estimated to have a price tag of just over $1 million.
