Health officials say the number of flu-related deaths in Indiana this season has doubled to 50 as of the first week of 2018.  Up to December 30th there had been 16 deaths.  In it’s weekly report, the Indiana State Department of Health says flu activity is widespread across the state.

Jennifer Butler with Daviess Community Hospital says that’s proven true here at home…

Butler says it’s not too late to get a flu shot.  She says within a couple of weeks of getting the shot, your body will develop immunity…and she says you shouldn’t be afraid of the shot..

Visitation restrictions do continue at Daviess Community Hospital due to the flu virus activity.   Only immediate family members of significant persons as defined by the patient can visit.  Visitors not allowed include those with influenza-like symptoms and those under 15.
