Hester McCallister, 101, went home to her Lord and Savior Wednesday, December 27, 2017 in Fort Wayne, IN with her daughter by her bedside. Born February 1, 1916 in Princeton, IN she graduated from Decker Chapel High School where she met and married Claude Allen McCallister on May 26, 1934, serving by his side for 64 years as a Pastor’s wife in United Methodist Conference churches throughout Indiana.
She was a loving mother and friend to all, made delicious pies, was a choir member, youth camp counselor, a fan of IU basketball, and loved camping with relatives and cuddling family dogs Tiny and Scooter.
Surviving is her daughter Ruth Ellen Corn of Fort Wayne; sisters Geneva Macagnone of Early, TX and Ruth Hacker of Fort Branch, IN; great granddaughter Olive Corn of Qatar. Hester was preceded in death by husband Claude, son Paul Richard, brother Andrew Dixon, parents Arthur and Myrtle (Murray) Dixon and grandson Scot Hays Corn.
Service is 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Gardner Brockman Funeral Home, 505 Main St. with Rev. Evelyn Owens officiating. Friends may visit with Hester’s family from 11:00 am until the hour of service. Online condolences may be sent to Hester’s family at www.gardnerbrockman.com.
