The Petersburg Fire Department has put out their end of the year end stats.

The volunteer department reports that in 2017 they responded to 337 service calls.  They worked 13 structure fires, 5 car fires and 12 grass or brush fires and were involved in 10 fire related investigations.   Their members were called to 17 motor vehicle accidents, 33 injury related accidents and conducted 7 automobile extrications.

This was a big year for the Petersburg Fire Department as back in August they opened and dedicated their brand new fire station located in Illinois Street.  The new facility allows the department, even though 100 percent volunteer, to have firefighters stationed at the new headquarters 24/7.
