Vonda LaVere Myers, 95, of Bloomfield, Indiana, went to Heaven peacefully on Friday, December 29, 2017 in Bloomington, Indiana. She was born in Daviess County, Indiana, on April 14, 1922 to Austin B. and Maude (Williams) Osmon.
Vonda was a member of the Odon United Methodist Church. She retired from RCA in 1984, after 18 years of service. Vonda was a committed mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who found joy in caring for her family. She was a great home cook who made lots of special family meals, including her amazing fried chicken and homemade chicken and noodles. Vonda also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, games, gardening, sewing, and crocheting baby blankets and outfits, many of which she donated to the premature baby unit at Riley Children’s Hospital. Most importantly, Vonda will be remembered for her kind, sweet spirit and warm smile.
Surviving family includes: two sons, Charles R. (Carolyn) Myers of Odon and Ronald R. (Linda) Myers of Lake Placid, FL; one daughter, Linda F. (Dennis) McCallian of Glendale, AZ; four grandchildren, Angela Myers (Tim) Cooper, Lori McCallian, Stephanie Myers Carter and Dana McCallian (Chris) Byers; five great-grandchildren, Kayetlyn Renee Carter, Blake Christopher Byers, Mackenzie Lyn Byers, Aerie Paige Tseganesh Cooper, and Wrynn Raynee Kalkidan Cooper; one sister, Ada (Jackie) Osmon Garner of Bloomington.
Vonda was preceded in death by: her parents; brothers, George, Johnny, Rob, William, and Charles Jabus Osmon; sisters, Rowena Osmon Hodges, Pauline Osmon Hart, Edna Osmon Gainey, and Ruby Osmon Wilson.
A visitation will be held from 10am until Noon on Friday, January 5, 2018, at Meng Family Funeral Home (616 E Elnora St., Odon, IN 47562). Funeral Services will begin at Noon at the Funeral Home with Pastor Debbie Payne officiating. Vonda will be laid to rest at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon, IN, following funeral services.
