Indiana State Police have released details on why US 41 in northern Knox County was shut down for a time Wednesday night.  Facebook was flooded with rumors and false stories of what happened when at 8:45 state police found bloody clothes and shoes scattered along a mile of the US Highway near Oaktown.

Police naturally thought a crime had taken place and the southbound lanes were shut down while they investigated.

What they found out was a suicide had taken place in Oaktown and the family had put items from the scene in the back of a truck.  They apparently came out as the truck was traveling on the highway and became scattered by passing traffic.  The family was contacted and they retrieved the items.  US 41 was closed for a total of about 90 minutes.
