Remember in December with a Wreathe

The National Wreaths Across America Day is Saturday, December 16th, and a special program is planned for 11am at the Vincennes City Cemeteries on Willow Street.

Each December on the National Wreaths Day, the mission to “Remember, Honor, and Teach”, is carried out by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at over 1200 cemeteries all across the United States, including Arlington National in Washington D.C. The local ceremony will take place near the cemetery office building.

People who’ve purchased wreaths are encouraged to attend the short program, then take their wreaths for placement. The program is open to the public.

Wreaths Across America in Vincennes is a joint effort by 3 local community service clubs – Civitan, Kiwanis, and Rotary. Volunteers are also being sought to help distribute wreaths to the gravesites of veterans throughout the Vincennes City Cemeteries that morning. Volunteers can simply show up at the December 16th program at 11am, but volunteers can also sign up online at wreathsacrossamercia.org.
