It’s less than 3 weeks away and if you haven’t donated you still can.  We’re talking about Cops and Kids…the annual Christmas Time event has been happening since the early 90’s in Washington.  The program involves cops, firefighters, first responders and others shopping with local students from Head Start and 4 Rivers Pre-school for needed clothing and some toys.

Retired Washington Police Veteran Steve Riney has been involved since the beginning.  He says he attended a Colts football game and witnessed something which spurred the campaign which to date, has brought smiles to hundreds and hundreds of kids over the years….

Well over 100 kids from Daviess and Martin Counties will be escorted to Washington’s Wal-Mart December 19th to shop.  Riney says they like to spend over $100 per child and last year they spend $125 each on nearly 200 kids.

Donations come from individuals, businesses, civic and other organizations.  You can send or take monetary gifts to the Washington and Loogootee Police Departments, The Daviess and Martin County Sheriff’s Departments or the Odon Town Marshal’s Office.
