Jimmy Waldo VanLue (80) passed away 11/14/2017 at his home in Vincennes, Indiana.  He battled diabetes for many years and recently suffered heart issues and bouts of pneumonia.

Jim was born to Clifford Jerrell & Esthel Marie VanLue on 09/14/1937 and was named after Dr. Waldo who assisted with his home delivery.

He attended #4 and Decker Chapel Schools, and graduated from Monroe City School in 1956 where he set an outstanding basketball record for 1stMCHS Player to Score 1000 Points.

Jim also attended Oakland City College on a baseball scholarship and served with the National Guard Reserves (Vincennes Unit) for about 8 years.

He married his cheerleader sweetheart, Marilyn Kay Walters, from Decker Chapel on 06/04/1961.   God brought into their home four sons—James Adlai, Jeffrey Allen, Jerrell Gene, and Jimmy Dewayne.  Jim and Marilyn enjoyed 56 years of marriage together.

Jim worked most of his life in the grocery (produce) business beginning at Pipers and A & P in Vincennes and then at IGA in Danville, IN after the family moved there in1972. Jim never missed a day of work from being sick while in the grocery business.  His last place of employment was Olin Brass in Indianapolis which closed while he was recovering from a job-related hand injury.

Jim was saved at Beale Pentecostal Church at the end of 1961 (six months after his wedding) and was baptized in the Wabash River at the ferry crossing nearby.  He was also a faithful member of and served as an usher at Danville Apostolic Church (pastored by his brother Jerry) before moving back to Vincennes in 2008.   Jim was currently attending Calvary Apostolic Church in Lawrenceville, IL.

He is predeceased by his infant son James Adlai (1962), his mother Esthel Marie (2001), his brother Billy Bruce (2002), his father Clifford Jerrell (2003), and his sister Conna Mae Leydier (2012).

God blessed Jim with 8 grandchildren to spoil:  Jennifer, Bethany, Jeffrey, Jessica, Jay, Kayla, Gavin and Daulton.   Then God sent more joy in his life through his 9 greatgrandchildren:  Camryn, Carson, Caleb, Ryder, Madison, Amelia, Hannah, Sarah, and Briella.

Yes, gone and already sadly missed is our husband, dad, brother, grandpa, friend and loved one.  But Jim will forever be remembered as a wonderful, kind, tender-hearted “teddybear” sort of man who loved God and loved his family with his whole heart, his whole mind, soul and strength.
