Accident Involving Firemen Still Under Investigation

Montgomery firefighter Kendall Murphy was laid to rest today.  The funeral held at the Simon J. Graber Complex.  Murphy died Friday while responding to a drunken driving incident at US 50 and 800-East involving Beau Gregory. Gregory was arrested on several Operating While Intoxicated Charges.

Murphy was hit while exiting his personal vehicle by a pickup. That truck was driven by 26-year-old Colby Blake of Cannelburg.  Blake, also a fireman,  was charged with Driving While Intoxicated Causing Death.  The Washington Times Herald quotes Chief Deputy Gary Allison as saying Blake had been seen allegedly drinking with Gregory prior to his accident.  The newspaper reports it’s  not clear if Blake was responding to the Gregory crash as a firefighter or not.

Blake’s formal hearing is scheduled for Thursday.

Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb has directed all flags in Daviess County to by flown at half-staff through sunset this evening in honor of Kendall Murphy.
