Richard L. “Dick” Walford

Richard L. “Dick” Walford, age 76, of Washington, passed away on November 7, 2017 at Daviess Community Hospital.

He was born on November 19, 1940 in Washington to James and Dorothy (Clauss) Walford.  He graduated from Washington Catholic High School in 1959 and was a U.S. Army Veteran.  He was a member of the Washington VFW and American Legion. He was deployed twice to Vietnam as an explosive Ordinance Technician with the 1st Marine Division MARUE.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sharon Walford; two sons, Eric (Rachael) Walford  of Indianapolis and Ty Walford of Washington; two daughters, Leann Jones of Washington and Michelle (Steve) Wininger of Washington; six grandchildren; Tyler Jones, Jessica (Tim) Kessen, Ashlee Hayes, Jameson Coy, Camila Walford, and  Lainie Donaldson, two great grandsons;  Cayden Kessen  and   Samuel Kessen, two sisters;  Margaret Ann Walford of Washington and Mary Jo (Joe) Abrell of North Vernon, his dog, Jack, and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William ‘Wes” Walford and Tommy Joe Walford.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday at Ed Lee Mortuary with Yvonne Evans officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Washington American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Friday at Ed Lee Mortuary.
