Carl E. Lutkemeier, 92, passed away on October 6, 2017 at Richard L. Roudenbush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis. Carl was born on August 14, 1925 in Vincennes the son of Dr. Henry Carl (H.C.) and Rae (Weathers) Lutkemeier. Carl married Marjorie Bobe on September 23, 1946. He then married Charleenees (Whisennand) Alsop on, and she preceded him in death on June 19, 2004.

Carl attended Vincennes University, Indiana University and Marion Military Institute in Marion, AL. He served his country in the US Army during WW II and was a Purple Heart recipient. Carl owned and operated a Marathon bulk oil dealership, the C.W. Bobe Marathon and was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, the Elks and the DAV. He also attended the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his daughter, Cynthia Callan and her husband Craig of Vero Beach, FL; brother, Richard Lutkemeier and his wife Nancy of Pennsylvania; grandson, Liam Callan; nephews, Rick Schick, David Luetkemeier, and Richard Lutkemeier; and nieces Pat Stewart, Debbie Baron, Sue Cable, Becky Lutkemeier, and Patty Standen. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Henry “Hank” Carl Lutkemeier II, sisters, Dr. Evangeline Lutkemeier and Henrietta Clark; and his second wife Charleenes Lutkemeier.

Funeral services for Carl will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes with Rev. Lynn Marino officiating. Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery Tower II Mausoleum. Friends may visit with Carl’s family on Thursday from 11:00 am until the hour of service time of 1:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. John United Church of Christ or the Independence Fund (which provides mobility equipment for veterans) .
