Donald Duane Meurer, 79, of Plainville, passed away, surrounded by his family, on Oct. 10, 2017, in Vincennes. He was born Sept. 14, 1938, in Odon, to Earl Leo and Autumn Levon (Harper) Meurer. He married his loving wife, Jeanette (Ricketts) Meurer, on May 29, 1959.
Donald was a member of the Parkview Christian Church in Plainville. He was an avid Cardinals fan, enjoyed being an assistant basketball coach for his son, Steve, at North Daviess and coaching little league baseball in Odon, where he compiled a 36 and 1 record. Donald was a melon and grain farmer for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Meurer of Plainville; two sons, David Marc (Lisa) Meurer of Corydon, Kentucky, and Steven Wayne (Tammy) Meurer of Bicknell; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kenneth Lee Meurer.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2017, at Parkview Christian Church in Plainville, with Pastor Alfred Helms officiating. Donald will be laid to rest in Sugarland Memory Gardens in Washington.
Family and friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon and from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m. at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Travis Burkhart Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and the church.
