A new program aimed at helping Washington High School graduates to have skills needed to enter the workforce on graduation was approved by the School Board at Thursday’s Board meeting.

The school system will be adding the Jobs for America’s Graduates program and will receive funding for the first four semesters.  Washington’s Assistant Superintendent Kevin Frank explained that former Governor Mitch Daniels initiated the program in his administration.  It targets at-risk juniors and seniors who may not be quite on track.  Kevin says there will likely be 40 students involved…

Frank says that the program’s graduating seniors could receive a monetary stipend:

Costs for the new program will be paid by a grant and the instructor will be provided by Vincennes University.  Frank says the program is a natural fit for Washington’s curriculum which is aimed at giving graduates the skills necessary to enter the workforce or continue their educations after graduation.
