Robert M. O’Brian, age 92, of Washington, passed away on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 2:40 a.m. at his home. He was born on August 21, 1924 in Montgomery to James and Etta (Clements) O’Brian. He was a United States Army Korean War Veteran. He retired at 64 years of age from CSX railroad. He was member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, The Brute Society, Washington Knights of Columbus, RSVP and the Washington American Legion; he also volunteered at St Vincent DePaul for 29 years.  He loved fishing, gardening and mowing. He is survived by three sons, William David (Iva) O’Brian of Washington, Stephen Michael (Marsha) O’Brian of Clarksville, Tennessee and Daniel Patrick (Sherri) O’Brian of Washington; two daughters, Pamela Sue (Art) Furtney of Jacksonville, North Carolina and Glenna Faye (Gary) Myers of Washington; daughter-in-law, Rita O’Brian of Mooresville; two brothers, Chris O’Brian of Montgomery and Donald O’Brian of Glendale; eleven grandchildren, Brandon O’Brian, Christopher O’Brian, Jennifer Furtney-Dorn, Bryan Smith, Scott Furtney, Joshua O’Brian, Heather O’Brian, Robert O’Brian, Stephanie Wininger, Ashley Crane and Jarrett Myers; twelve great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Faye (Palmer) O’Brian on August 28, 2002, whom he married June 13, 1949. He was also preceded in death by his son; James Joseph O’Brian. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with Fr Paul Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at St John Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday at Ed Lee Mortuary with a rosary being held by the KofC at 7:45 pm. Military graveside rites conducted by the Washington American Legion and the VFW. Memorial donations may be given to the St Vincent DePaul Society, 815 Main St E, Washington, IN 47501.
