Over 40 people attended an informal event today at the Indiana Municipal Power Agency’s or IMPA Solar Park on Cosby Road in Washington today.

IMPA, is a nonprofit wholesale power provider in 61 cities in Indiana and Ohio. They operate the municipal power distribution systems in their communities including Washington.  IMPA is celebrating 125 years this year.

The Mayors of Washington, Jasper, Tell City and Huntingburg attended today’s event as did the President of IMPA and 8th District Congressman Larry Bucshon. Bucshon commented on his support of an “all the above” approach to generating electricity for the nation’s needs.   He said he will continue to work toward finding the best answers and solutions to power regulation issues while protecting jobs and the economy.     Following a reception and a lunch. those in attendance toured Washington’s power station and solar park.

The congressman opened the floor for questions and talked briefly about the Trump presidency and taking down historic monuments.

In giving his answers, he said he does not believe the national media will leave President Trump alone.  He said every President endures criticism and judgment at the beginning of their administration but doubts it will end in the Trump White House.  He did say Trump should likely pick his battles when arguing with the press.

On the dismantling of historic monuments, the Congressman said he is not in favor of sanitizing history.  He mentioned Tienanmen Square as an example saying people who were not alive during that incident in China in 1989  are not aware of it because the Chinese Government makes a practice of controlling what is remembered.
