The Washington City Council last night introduced ordinances that would give city employees an average raise of around 3 per cent for next year

The Mayor also presented Utility Department Head, Anita Ash, and Electric Department Superintendent Randy Ennis a proclamation recognizing the Electric Department’s 125 years of service to the Washington area.

At the end of the meeting the Mayor announced that a long-time fixture at Washington’s Street Department is retiring.  Mayor Wellman read Street Commissioner Ernie Evans’s retirement letter to the City Council.  Evans was originally hired by former Mayor Tom Baumert nearly 30 years ago.  Evans’s retirement will take effect October 1.
