Judy Kay (Smith) Mayhorn

gill-leaves-7

Judy Kay (Smith) Mayhorn came into this world on March 12, 1950. Sadly, she left much too soon for her young age of only 67, on the morning of August 9, 2017. If you never had the chance to meet this great little woman, you missed out on one of the most kind, loving, giving, funny, and faithful ladies. She gave of herself more than she should have but that was her way. She loved her whole family with such devotion, ferocity, and unabounding love that was awe inspiring. Her grandchildren were the twinkle and light in her eyes. She would fight like a tigress for their safety and undying love. She shared that same love and kindness with her friends, whom she loved deeply, and her children’s friends, whom she treated as her own. She never met a child she didn’t love and they always loved her. Her love didn’t stop with people. Her fur babies were her guardians, companions, and comfort when comfort was often difficult to achieve. They knew to keep their keen eyes and senses attuned to her needs, even when her “humans” couldn’t give the comfort she so needed.

Judy’s family and friends surrounded her with all their love before, during, and after she left us and she didn’t ever want to leave us. Everyone is extremely saddened and heartbroken by her death, but relieved she isn’t suffering any longer. Death brings unimaginable heartache to those left behind but peace to those whose suffering was too much to bear.

Judy was born in Vincennes, Indiana to John and Marge Smith. She married Jeffrey Mayhorn on July 29, 1977. They just celebrated their 40th anniversary. Her children are Terri Lynn (nee Loyd) Bair (Sam) of Bedford, Indiana, Jimmy Loyd (Beth), Allen Mayhorn, and Johnny Mayhorn (Krystal). Five gorgeous grandchildren, Macie (nee Loyd) Wagler (Ethen), McKenzie Loyd, Kailey Mayhorn, Lyvia Mayhorn, and Bradley Mayhorn, all of Washington, Indiana. Her sibilings are Paul Smith (Barb), Zeke Smith (Pam), Vickie Smith, Rocky Smith (Diane) all of Vincennes, Indiana. She has 15 nephews, 5 nieces and several great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents John and Marge Smith, mother and father in law, Bill and Rosemary Mayhorn, a nephew, Michael Smith, and a precious baby grandson Trent Donald Loyd. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday
