Clay County traffic stop nets 5 lbs of heroin

Five pounds of heroin was found after a traffic stop up in Clay County and two California residents were jailed on felony counts of dealing and possession charges.

An Indiana State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Trooper working along Interstate 70 in Clay County at 9:43-am, noticed a silver Nissan Altima with Oregon plates following too close to another vehicle.  A traffic stop was initiated and during the stop, several indicators of possible criminal activity were detected.  

A K9 from the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department was requested and after a free air sniff the dog gave a positive indication and the five pounds of heroin worth $225,000 was found.  The suspects were said to be traveling from California to Columbus, Ohio.

Arrested were 23-year-old Edgar Ramos-Luna and 19-year-old Emily Hernandez both of North Hills, CA.
