Purdue University and Crane have announced a new agreement according to a story in today’s Washington Times Herald.

The story’s author, Mike Grant, reports the agreement is expected to help save lives through improved communication and defense of U.S. Navy fleets and eliminating dangerous counterfeit laptops and other electronics.  According to the story, counterfeit electronic components have plagued the Navy for years.

The collaboration is a result of a recently announced partnership between West Gate Authority,  Crane, Purdue, and the Purdue research foundation.

Indiana Senator Joe Donnelly, a member of the Senate Armed Services committee helped facilitate the relationship between Purdue and Crane and says it will result in innovative solutions.

State Representative Mike Braun of Jasper praised the collaboration and said the partnership will lead to new academic and economic opportunities for the people of Southwest Indiana.
