Arson Determined to be Cause of Fire at Vacant Vincennes Home

arson-2

Arson has been determined as the cause of a fire that damaged a vacant home yesterday at 713 North Ninth Street.

Firemen got the call around two p-m, and stayed on the scene through the rest of the afternoon. City Fire Battalion Chief John McNeece says at least one part of the house suffered severe damage.
Fire crews say the electricity was turned off to the house when the fire happened. McNeece says even with the arson designation, City Fire Chief Sonny Pinkstaff and others are actively working on the case. Pinkstaff has also called in the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s office for further investigation, and to determine the damage amount. The State Fire Marshal’s investigation is scheduled to start today. Anyone with information on the fire should call the Indiana Arson Tip Line at 1-800-382-4628. A reward of up to five-thousand dollars is available for information leading to an arrest or arrests in the case.
