William Dean Wonder, 81, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 25th, 2017 at his home in rural Washington.

He was born on February 5, 1936 in Cumback, Indiana to Otis and Mildred (Goslin) Wonder and married the love of his life, Lydia Richer on January 14, 1972 in Daviess County, Indiana. Their children include: Maria, and her husband, Ron Steffy of Jasper; Jesse, and his wife, Kathie Wonder; Suzan, and her husband, Rod Latham, and William Joseph “B.J.” Wonder all of Washington; his grandchildren, Ronnie, Madeline, Anna, Samuel, and Levi Steffy; Brandon Cummins, Jessica Wonder, Christian, Justice, Robert Dean, Ethan Gage, and Gabriel Latham. He is also survived by two sisters, Joetta Warner of Noblesville, and Sue Malone of Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Charles Wonder.

Bill graduated from Washington High School in 1955 and remained a loyal fan of the Washington Hatchets. He was a charter member of the Montgomery Christian Church. A proud veteran of the United States Army and Army National Guard, he served for 17 years and reached the rank of 2nd Lt.

He greatly enjoyed his winter home in Sarasota, Florida and loved to travel. He often was planning his next trip while traveling home from the trip he was on.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday July 28th at the Berea Mennonite Church in Cannelburg with a Celebration of Life being held on Saturday July 29th at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Brother Michael Frances officiating. Friends may also call Saturday one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Washington. Military graveside rites will be accorded. Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Goodwin Funeral Home.
