Donald “Don” Gene Davis, 71, of Monroe City, IN, went to his Heavenly Home on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 from Daviess Community Hospital.
He was born on August 17, 1945 in Vincennes, IN to Henry and Viola (Loveall) Davis. He was a 1963 Graduate of Monroe City High School. He was married to Cheryl “Sherry” (Carey) Davis. Don worked as a Line Crew Supervisor for Cinergy and retired after 31 years and he was the Water Operator for the town of Monroe City. He was a member of Bethany Christian Church. He loved fishing, singing, gardening, and mowing. He really enjoyed spending time outdoors.
Don is survived by his spouse Sherry Davis of Monroe City, IN; children Dawna Coffland (Kevin) of Iowa, Dayna Courtney Smith of Iowa, Danielle Good (Mickey) of Iowa, and Geena Davis of Monroe City; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two brothers Dave Davis (Linda) and Chuck Davis (Amy); and sister Carol Heady (Dennis). He is preceded in death by his parents and infant son Dathan Davis.
The funeral service for Don will take place on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 2pm at Bethany Christian Church, 1139 IN-57,Washington, IN 47501 with Rev. Tom Watson and Rev. Keith Meece officiating. Friends may call prior to the service from 10-2pm at the church. Interment will take place at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Monroe City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Blue Jean Center of Monroe City, Bethany Christian Church, Immeasurably More Fund, CONNECTIONS, or 4-Rivers Children’s Services.
