Purdue Extension-Daviess County to Hold 6th Annual VIP Event

          On Monday, July 17th, at 5:00 pm EDT, local leaders & elected officials will gather at the Purdue Extension-Daviess County 4-H grounds, in Washington, near Eastside Park, for the 6th annual VIP Event, which is sponsored by German American Bank. The guest list includes Washington Mayor Joe Wellman, Daviess County Council members, State Senator Eric Bassler, State Representative Mike Braun & representatives for Congressman Larry Bucshon, Senator Todd Young & Senator Joe Donnelly.

         Following an opening reception, guests will hear about how Purdue, WestGate & Crane are joining forces for educational, technology research & commercialization advancements in our region, from Purdue Foundry Senior Vice President & Director of Innovation & Entrepreneurship Greg Deason. “Our footprint at this site is already strong, but bringing the full compendium of what we do in West Lafayette will do much to increase commercialization and startup creation,” said Greg Deason. “In addition to the programming we plan to provide, we will establish popular networking events like our Foundry Grounds and Spirited Entrepreneur to the area. We believe the collaboration between Purdue and WestGate can move the economic development needle for the whole region.”

            Indiana State Department of Agriculture Director Ted McKinney will share information with guests about the ISDA strategic plan to grow Indiana agriculture over the next decade. The plan was unveiled to the public in June. “This plan is a testament to the strong collaboration we have in Indiana and will help drive success for farmers, the industry and our state’s economy,” said Ted McKinney, Indiana State Department of Agriculture Director. “There are many crucial components to this plan, which span a variety of sectors of agriculture, but the bottom line is that we are working together to move the industry forward.” The event takes place during the 2017 Daviess County 4-H Show, which runs through Friday, July 21st.
