Bennington Levee Inspection

Results of an inspection of the Bennington Levee are not expected until later this year.  The Army Corp of Engineers made the inspection last week.

Daviess County Council President and Levee Board member Mike Sprinkle told the Washington Times Herald that the corp. looked at different things in the past that have gotten the levee out of compliance. The levee was recertified in 2015 after over million was spent to repair it after breaking twice within five years.  The county had to create a break in 2011 to drain away water.  Sprinkle says compliance brings the chance for federal help if there is every another problem.

Sprinkle says county officials are confident the corp was pleased with what they saw in last week’s inspection.
