Timothy J. Strange Jr., 83, of Loogootee, passed away on Saturday May 20, 2017 at Daviess Community Hospital.
He was born in Bedford, Indiana to the late Timothy J. Sr. and Francis (Ford) Strange.
Tim married Alice (Acton) Strange on February 28, 1953 and they raised five children together in Loogootee.
He retired from U.S. Gypsum in Shoals after 39 years of employment. He also served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict aboard the U.S.S. Kearsarge.
Tim was a member of the American Legion Post 120, VFW Post 9395 and the Knights of Columbus. He also was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church in Whitfield, and most recently, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loogootee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Timothy J. Sr. and Francis (Ford) Strange.
Tim is survived by his wife, Alice (Acton) Strange of Loogootee; children, Deb Strange of Phoenix, AZ, Brenda (Mike) Maule of Bolingbrook, IL, Jackie Strange of Bloomington, Tim (Shelley) Strange III of Waynesville, OH, and Pat Strange of Loogootee; grandchildren, Neal (Rachel) Strange, Sean (Kristin) Dixon, Matt Maule, Jonathon Costello, Brian Maule, Ally Strange, Liza Strange and Maddie Strange; great-grandchildren, Henry Strange and Oliva Strange.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Very Rev. J. Kenneth Walker at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at St. Martin Catholic Church in Whitfield. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 23, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee and Wednesday, May 24, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans.
