Today is Peace Officer’s Memorial Day. The 17th annual memorial in Washington is at 1 at the Daviess County Courthouse. The Washington Fraternal Order of Police is hosting the ceremony and the public is welcome and encouraged.

Last year in the US there were 135 officers and firefighters at the state, local and federal level died in the line of duty across the US.   All of their names are being added to the National Law Enforcement Memorial in the nation’s capital.

Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb has ordered American Flags to be flown at half-staff today in honor of Peace Officers Memorial Day today. Again, the Washington FOP Law Enforcement Memorial Service is today at 1 at the Daviess County Courthouse.
