There’s been a failure to natural gas storage well in Greene County prompting some evacuations.
The state police post in Bloomington is reporting that Citizen Energy Group is working a natural gas well emergency. The incident began last night. The area affected in 4 miles south of Worthington between Greene County Roads 325-North and 200-North. The well is part of the utility’s underground gas storage operations in the area. There’ve been no injuries or damage.
Seven homes have been evacuated and State Road 67 from Switz City to State Road 54 is closed.Als Greene County road 325 North near the site is closed. 93 Duke Energey customers in that are without electricity due to the emergency. Officials say the storage well release should dissipate in 24 hours.
Only public safety personnel are currently allowed in the area near the well emergency.
