A man was rescued from a capsized boat and then cited for not having a proper boat registration.

The DNR reports that 50-year-old Anthony K. Genson of Merom stood up in the rear corner of a 14 foot aluminum fishing boat yesterday about 3 on Wampler Lake near Linton at the Greene/Sullivan State Forest.   The boat began to take on water and turned over.  Genson was wearing a life jacket and able to swim to a nearby island.  He yelled for help and a passerby who went for help and Genson was taken back to shore by boat.  Genson was not injured and said the life jacket likely helped him survive.  The boat was recovered from underwater however, a battery and some fishing equipment were lost.

Authorities discovered the registration on the boat had been expired since 1993.  Genson was given a citation for failure to register a motorboat.
