State Sen. Mark Messmer (R-Jasper) congratulated two local businesses that recently received Half Century awards from Gov. Eric Holcomb.

Grandview Aluminum Products in Spencer County has been in business for 52 years and has grown into one of the nation’s top suppliers of cast bronze and aluminum plaques. Kimball International in Dubois County has been in business for 67 years and creates furnishings for schools, businesses and hospitals.

“Locally owned businesses are the backbone of our economy,” Messmer said. “I want to congratulate these businesses for their dedication to our community and to the Hoosier state. Success stories like these companies show that Indiana is a great place to start and grow a business.”

The Governor’s Century and Half Century Business Awards honor Hoosier businesses that have remained in operation for a minimum of 100 or 50 consecutive years respectively and have also demonstrated a commitment to community service. More than 1,400 companies from across the state have been recognized during the 26-year history of the award.
